Default EQ in game time Time Line...

I was wondering, and it would help me for when I want to write a story about Chamcham and Zelgadis some day, what the in game EQ year was when the game Everquest went live.

Well I tried asking a Guide in a petition to ask a GM to let me know when the in game EQ years were when the game went live, followed by the release of each expansion. Needless to say... they didn't know.

So if any crazy people out there know what EQ year (not Real Life year) it was when each expansion and the game went live, or know the proper time conversions to figure it out, it would be rather interesting to me.

just my 2cents, over the almost four year time span I played, everytime I did /played it was around 3200, i don't think the years are linear, i'm pretty sure the date recycled itself over and over within that area. After 4 years with every eq day being a rl hour or so, 1000 years would have passes, it never reached the year 4000, so i am convinced the years recycle. Don't quote me, but if we played say Final Fantasy for 4 years they'd have to keep the year about the same in order to keep the supposed timespan in tact.

Just have to do a little math, E. marr started in may 26th 1999. (if I recall correctly)

so its been open:

1999 = 219 days
2000 = 366 days (leap year)
2001 = 365 days
2002 = 365 days
2003 = 28 days

for a total of roughly 1343 days

we know that 60 RL minutes = 1 day in EQ

so multiply 1343 x 24

this will tell you that 32, 232 EQ days have passed

which if you consider ~365 days are in a year (I *think* this it how years work in EQ) means (32,232/365) that E.marr has been around for about 88.3 Years in EQ time.

Hope this helps

Christ, that means all you people that started on day 1 of the server are OLD! Perhaps, instead of horses, those merchants should sell these.

I'm stealing Naele's post and updating it, hehe. One EQ day = 72 mins, not 60 mins. So, we have the following:

If E. marr started in may 26th 1999, then its been open:

1999 = 219 days
2000 = 366 days (leap year)
2001 = 365 days
2002 = 365 days
2003 = 28 days

for a total of 1343 days

So we multiply 1343 days x 24 hours/day for a total number of hours, which gives us that 32, 232 EQ hours have passed since Emarr opened.

32, 232 hours x 60 mins/hour = 1,933,920 minutes = total minutes RL time EMarr open.

Now, we know that 72 RL minutes = 1 day in EQ, therefore:

1,933,920 minutes divided by 72 mins/day, = 26,860 EQ days.

26,860 EQ days divided by 365 days/year = 73.59 EQ years have elapsed since EMarr opened.

Zelgadis,

Somewhere, on a dusty webpage, I used to document our guild's events monthly. On each entry, I would include the In-Game date.

I am sorry to say that the In-Game date is definately not linear:

April 25th, 2002 the IG date was 'November of the year 3174'
May 6th, 2002 the IG date was 'August of the year 3175'
May 21st, 2002 the IG date was 'August of the Year 3172'

You know what, Vladimirr (paladin who posts on the Rangers Glade) said that with every patch the game timer resets. O.o So I guess my idea of creating a somewhate linear story time line thing based on what would have really happened in game would actually be a fantasy in itself.

Emarr came online earlier in May of 1999. Mag's creation day is May 19th 1999, I would guess Emarr came online around the 7th or so of May.

I wrote down the game date when I made my first char on Emarr. In June 1999 it was November 3172. When I checked today after the patch, it was May 3172.

The in game date resests with every major patch our outage that requires the servers to be taken down.

So beyond the general repetitiveness of what most of us spend our time doing in game, in a calendar sense we're repeating the same days over and over? nice
