I always kind of wonder... how can one spend enough time playing EQ to justify that kind of setup, and yet also hold down a job to pay for it? That's like $1000 a year in account fees alone. Although I spose a decent job without having a girlfriend/wife/kids could do it, geez.

I want to be independently wealthy when I grow up

In my single younger days, I'd spend $300 a MONTH on alcohol, and about the same per month eating out.

6x$12.95 pales in comparison.
Nothing more on a monthly basis than a Cable subscription with all the movie channels really.

Though I personally am uncomfortable playing anything more than my own character, the cost aspect of this multi-box setup isn't that high. If you consider EQ a hobby, it is actually not very expensive in comparison to say Scuba Diving, Skiing, etc.

Take care,
Frekkels

well, the point was that account fees are the cheap part But yeah.

Of course, I guess the people who drink excessively while playing EQ aren't the ones running 6+ characters at a time

In my single days, my regular bar tab for a Wed night karaoke bar romp was $100+, 4-5 times a month. It was fun but man, it was hard to pay off $3000 in alcohol from the credit card bills when I finally woke up and realized I was being foolish

Dude! Why! We became such good friends with the bar tender that we would do a deal, that if our tab didnt break 20 bucks then we would tip them 20 bucks. 40 bucks for a hundred bucks worth of alcohol is uber. Work smarter not harder!

We were friends with the bartender... that is the scary part. It got to the point where they put our names on the marquee outside the bar, I'll have to try to find the picture of that someday. Anyhow, it was beyond insane... I don't really miss those days.

HA! We ended up getting the bar manager at the local applebees to put our names on plaques around the bar. It got to the point one time that we actually drank straight from the pitchers. Im with you though. I dont miss those days either

actually....
/agree Fori - I think every higher end guild has at least couple people that like to 2 box

Only problem I see with people who 2/3/500 box is that I haven't yet met someone that can handle more than 2 in a raid situation and even come close to doing their job(s) all properly. They end up doing the bare minimum of what they HAVE to do to get the job done, and I've met quite a few that can't even do that with 2.

But for those of you that can, that I just haven't met - more power to ya I say, makes things a lot easier for grouping for you when you are the whole group :P

Seeing as all the characters are at the select screen, I'm not impressed. Post something where he is clearing Fear by himself, and I might recant.
But then again, when it comes to multi-boxing, I got to watch some of the best /salute Ogres long gone from the world

haha rae, you beat me to it.

i don't think there was anyone in our guild who didn't play more than one character except me and you.

i seem to remember the joke being the average dragon raid had a guild turnout of 18 with 9 players manning all the characters.

on the plus side...there was no class in existence that each member couldn't play well.

kanya

oh yeah, btw, to the person who was saying you couldn't be that dedicated to eq and have (basically a life) job/gf/etc...
beba still plays at the very least three characters at a time, has a great job, a wife, plays in a pool league (two divisions), and has two dogs and a house. so it's possible.
the set up here is up to seven comps again...so it doesn't look that much different than that picture up there, except they are lined up against one wall in the game room.

of course...not what i would dream to do with my time/money..but to each his own.

Incorrect. I drink excessively and play 5-6 characters at a time, every time.
