Default quick question about /duels and arena fights...

Do you lose exp when dying from DoTs in duels/arenas?

I thought that if you got dotted and died in the arena then you wouldn't lose exp, but if you step out you will lose exp...and /duel you won't lose exp as long as you don't zone.

Am I wrong here? my friends are saying I am, but im sure im not!! help me out here

If you are in the arena and die from a dot you wont lose exp.

if you get doted and run out of the arena you will lose exp.

not sure about duels but i think you dont lose exp from dots in a duel.

In arena you don't lose exp

Dueling you sometimes do and you sometimes don't.

If you duel someone, DoT them where the DoT will kill them, and then zone..

Yes, they will lose exp because the server had wiped the /duel flag once one of you zoned (hence the message that so and so fled). So now that the duel flag is off, the server treats the death as a normal exp loss death.

At least this is how it used to be, but I honestly dont see how they could or why they would change it.

--edited---

if your friends dont believe you, .....

/duel...knock em down to almost death, DoT them, (make sure DoT will kill them) and zone....

I bet they believe you after that when they start calling for a cleric to get their exp back....

they had at one point fixed the DOT situation so that you would not lose xp in the arena due to dying from a dot, however, at some point it krept back in.

If you get the message that you died from pain and suffering then most of the tiime you will lose xp. Apparently pain and suffering is it's own mob entity and will count against you.

This was proven only a couple weeks back when I ran a guild event in the arena and several folks lost xp due to dots (they were warned by the way and all did so at their own risks).

So, hopefully they fix it, but it is back. The only twist to this is not ALL dots will cause xp loss, which ones exactly will is hard to say but so far the "insect" line of the druids seems to do it relativly consistantly (Drones of Doom, Winged Death, Stining Swarm etc etc)/

Enjoy =)

Being a DOT-killer myself, I have to speak up here. I only /duel for fun, with people who are good friends of mine. Even when staying inside the Arena, people whom I have dueled have lost exp...........sometimes. Not all the time, no pattern, just at random. Sometimes they just die, get clicked and go on with their EQ lives with no exp loss. I dont get it.

*edit* just saw Skerry's post and thought I should add that I'm a Druid and use the insect line of DOTs, in case that helps anyone figure out this silly problem
