Default 64 bit parallel card

Anyone know where i can find one? For 64 bit PCI slot? Seems Dell wants to be asses and not put a parallel port on there PowerEdge servers. Oh and no backwards compat. for the slot.

Please please anyone know?

Yes i know the parallel port is dead....but we still use them for our software which uses hardware keys attached to the parallel port.

Gulyenn,

Ive tried a few PCI based Parallel cards and all of them have needed a specific driver to get going. The problem is that the Paralell port needs to be BIOS supported else most of the dongles dont work... on machines that dont have paralell ports this can cause a problem.

Howeve I have had some success using USB based external parallel ports for SOME dongles.. not all but these are usually quite cheap so it may be worth a shot if your OS supports the USB sockets.

Morent,

Tell Dell to take back the 64bit/66mhz riser card & send ya one with both the 64bit & 32bit slots on it... Pop it in & then put ya 32bit PCI I/O card in...

Case closed... next victim

BTW, ya should have bought the $6000 reference card

P.S. - if ya stll have problems after it comes in, check the voltage on the PCI card, the 32bit slot may still be running at 3.3 volts
