I guess the title speaks for itself. I stopped playing a good 3-4 months ago, however I'm curious if I should still be playing.
I'm in college now, and finding I have quite a bit of excess time where I can't find anything to do with myself except play video games I've already beaten. I know manaburn was nerfed. (Sadly) Is it worth coming back and starting at level 1?

Ahhh yes, Frats. Providing a handy way of delineating the "deep" and "shallow" ends of the college gene pool since their inception...
![]() I'd say give it a try, if you don't like it you'll know in under a month and can just cancel again. |

The only way most people will quit EQ is if they add little computer stations inside the game...and when you log in, your character immediately goes to a computer to play EQ. Only after constant nagging and prodding does your character finally log out and do what you want it to do.

I got one word for you if you are in college. Live this word, learn it, love it...
The word? BEER ![]() Should be closely followed by GIRLS in my opinion. Don't play EQ, go party while you can... for soon you get to learn a new word... WORK.

There are plenty of things you can do if you don't want to play eq.
1. Read a book/write a book 2. Learn an instrument (chicks dig guys that can play shit) 3. Excercise/Lift weights/play a sport 4. Learn a computer programming language. (vb, c++, javascript, perl, html) take your pick, every single one of them will land you a nice job if you know them well. 5. Ummm.....find a different computer game to play. Brinen |

Kylien,
If you will allow me to administer sweet prison justice once again, I will come back to the game.

Depends on what you are playing for and what you can handle.
At times I miss playing EQ because of the friends that I made and whatnot. RL is great, don't get me wrong. Its just something that is imprinted in your mind after you played for so long. But I know my characters are in good hand =) *blows the dust off and into Nire's face* =D If you do come back, come back for a good reason more than because of petty self-interest. |

If you actually wish to play the game, no.

Martigan LMFAO.. Great post..
Toxx I suggest you sit down and evaluate your RL situation. Then decide if the stress of juggling RL and a game holds enough water for your interests. Personally (since I am unguilded) I seem to have more time to work and make money, So I can put money into my retirement fund. So when I am to old to work I can play more Games. *Gasp How the heck can you play games unless you make money ? ATM I am learning HTML and all that crap that goes with Java and applets and and . Ok I bought frontpage 2002 for my business. I have much exp with graphics so designing a web site shouldn't be that hard. And besides I love my work and All that goes with it. Heck if I didn't I would've joined the coast guard. So you see Toxx, Do what you enjoy. If you need to escape for a while, Even a short while. Then do what you need to do. But always follow your interests. That is what makes living a grand and alluring adventure. Zolmaz Zo'Boto (Once upon a time there was this Crazy Gnome) Gdzila1@yahoo.com |

If you have kicked EQ, then don't pick up the habit again. Especially if you considered yourself a hardcore EQ gamer prior to leaving.
If you weren't hardcore, then it is really a hassle to play the game casually for only a few hours per week unless you play a good soloing class like a Necro. I only play casually because I play a Necro (so don't have to spend time LFGs) and know some good people which are fun to chat with IG. Still, my time IG has plummetted and I know I would never start over again.

Personally I would say to think about what is is you like about EQ before you make up your mind.
For me, I loved what the game once was, and that kept me coming back, but the game has really changed and it is just not for me anymore. If you like what it has turned into and you have the urge then I would by all means do it. |

OMIGOD Nire if it gets me close to you in your *VALORIUM BLUE* again you'll get all the man-love you can handle!
Oh yeah, did Jax tell you that if you guys come to the ATL yer stayin in my criz? BWAHAHAHA! Edit: Igota, that's exactly where I am. I love what EQ was pre-Kunark... Kunark was prolly the best time in the history of EQ... but Velious and since has changed the game too much for me. I couldn't come back if I tried... Plus Kylien got moved to another server so that sucks hard. Anyways... yay!

With the addition of PoP, is old EQ THAT foreign? I played pre-kunark all the way to August of this year, at which point my account ran out and I didn't bother to restart it. I agree EQ was in it's prime in the Kunark era, however I'm just curious if I come back, will I be playing a game filled with a Counter Strike type atmosphere? I guess I know Everquest isn't what it was, but if I enjoyed what it was, is there a chance what it is will be enjoyable too? (Good luck decrypting that)
