Got this in email today...I thought it was powerful and wanted to share...
/salute What Is A Vet??? He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn’t run out of fuel. He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel. He is the POW who went away one person and came back another, or didn’t come back AT ALL. He is the Parris Island drill instructor, who has never seen combat, but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other’s backs. He is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand. He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by. He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean’s sunless deep. He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket, palsied now and aggravatingly slow, who helped liberate a Nazi death camp, and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come. He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being, a person who offered some of his life’s most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs. He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say Thank You. That’s all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded. Two little words that mean a lot, “THANK YOU.” It’s the soldier, not the reporter, who gave us our freedom of the press. It’s the soldier, not the poet, who gave us our freedom of speech. It’s the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gave us our freedom to demonstrate. It’s the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves others with respect for the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. Proud to serve... I am,

Lovely. It's truly deserved.
I must add a note in addition, though: Thank you also to the family of active duty servicemen and servicewomen. Thank you especially to the spouses for not just marrying the individual, but marrying the military, as well, and providing constant moral support for our sailors and solidiers. |

A veteran is my father.
Who after a battle for 6 years finally got recognition from the Australian government that the Vietnam war actually ruined his body. Thanks Dad for fighting for my country, and finally yourself. *hugs from so far away* |

My 5 year old came home from kindergarten yesterday and informed me that it was Veteran's day. The day we remember the people that are in the Army and Navy and Air Force. He told me. He had a little flag he had made with tiny stars he glued on and red contrustion paper stripes. So I told him about all the people in our family that had been in the armed forces (father, grandfather-korea, great grandmother and great grandfather-WW2, great great grandfather-WW1).
I was thankful that I had the chance to tell him what I knew about them. I am thankful to all the people that watch over our country. |

Aye, thanks for the words Felessan. Sometimes it is hard for some of us to express thanks because we don't have the words - you have changed that for some of us now... and thanks for the collorary Aishen.
Never forget... |

I'd like to post here a remembrance for Nizzimon, Level 36 Erudite Wizard Solusek Ro, who gave his life in service to his country. As a member of our guild, the Knights of the Holy Storm, it hit us pretty hard, and did what we could do in recognition.
Nizzimon's Award Page Rest in Peace, brother. You are not forgotten.

<poem>
Teaching, Coaching and Guiding, Making a difference in the world. Inspiring, driving and wise, caring for 'their' kids more than we can see. Molding, Shaping, and Guiding, Their lessons are never forgotten. Preserving, Saving, and Caring, They are the destiny of the world. Respected, Treasured, and Honored, They shall never be forgotten. </poem> Sorry if this seems kind of rough, it was improptu over two minutes. Poetry is infinitely more concise than my rambling. Just thinking of a couple of people I appreciate, respect, and emulate for inspiration of this.

Being from a long line of service members on both sides of the family, and a prior member myself, I thank you for these inspirational words. They touched more than you could know.
