Default Cops like Kerry

They backed Bush in 2000. Interesting switch

Funny how the cops always support the dope smokers.

The police union might be backing Kerry, but just like Kerry said he had support from the firefighters union, I doubt the majority of individuals in either field will actually vote for Kerry.

Don't get all excited over this

Jealousy is a petty emotion Caelie.

Once again, it's geographical I guess. I come from a family of fireman, cops and paramedics and I can't think of one of them or their friends that would vote for Kerry. Then again, I can't think of one of them that actually thinks their union does anything for them.

The Union is just a business. The business might keep their benefits in tact, but it surely can't speak for the majority of it's employees when it comes to how they feel about the leader of the US. Like my nephew said the other day, "The Union can say what it wants for their own political agenda, but it doesn't mean the people they work for agree with them".

Keep that in mind Horm when you start linking who the Union and Brotherhoods support. All it means is the white shirts that head up the Union might vote for Kerry.

Funny how I know that you'd think differently if they'd backed Bush this year again

Hormadrune, I wouldn't think anything about it one way or the other. Unions are a business regardless of who they endorse. They don't change the employee's that belong to that union. You probably have cops in Massachusetts that would vote for Kerry regardless. On the same hand the union isn't going to persuade a bunch of Southern cops to vote for Kerry. Understand yet?

Well, being a cop and being for Bush and knowing cops around the south east and even across the country ( I am also a PBA member) I am here to tell you, cops are a lot like the military in thier opinions, which is to say they tend towards conservitism. Sure, the leadership tends toward liberalism but, the rank and file have a definate trend towards conservitism. I would not put too much stock in what the "leadership" says, odds are a good majority of the rank and file will vote for Bush. I will admit that most of my contact with oter cops is from the south, which Kerry is likely to lose anyway but, those friends I have spoken with from out west and up north also trend towards Bush. Unfortunatly cops, while high profile, are actually a rather small voting block.

I don't really doubt what you and Caelie are going at Lith, though I think you're both as biased as I am in your perception on this just in the opposite direction. I do however love the image it projects: that a president who is running almost 100pct on a national security platform failed to garner the support of the country's police unions. That's telling
