Some 2,000 Gun Control Supporters At 'Million Mom March' POSTED:

About 2,000 people turned out Sunday in Washington. Among them was Nick
Wilcox, whose 18-year-old daughter was shot to death in 2001 at a California
mental health department office by a patient using an illegal weapon. Wilcox said
assault weapons don't belong on the streets.
Eventhough, an assault weapon was not used in the crime. DUH!
And Washington elitists have disarmed their constituants? Go figure that people
are using illegal weapons. Does anybody get this? Only law abiding TAX-PAYERS own guns.
Make Guns illegal and only the criminals have guns. Got it?

Does anybody see law abiding citizens walking around with Assault weapons?
I don't. Horm? Bumble? Luri? Kerry? Anyone?

Washington (AP) - A few thousand people are spending Mother's Day rallying on
the National Mall in support of gun control.

Now it's a Few thousand? I thought it was a couple thousand. Bias? No way. Just a uneducated
reporter. But they don't list the reporters name. Go-Figure.

WASHINGTON, May 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- "The so-called 'Million Mom March' generates today into a thousand gang limp," John Michael Snyder, public affairs director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), said here this afternoon.

"Obviously," continued Snyder, "the good citizens of the United States of America would rather spend Mother's Day enjoying their time with the mothers of America than wasting it on Brady bunch nonsense."

Snyder said that "the much balleyhooed Million Mom March United With the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence today drew such a pitiful crowd of supporters that automobile traffic on the bridges crossing the Potomac River from Virginia into Washington, D.C. flowed more quickly than normal."

He notes that on Thursday of this past week the Brady bunch ran a full-page ad in The Washington Post which must have cost the group over $50,000 calling on supporters gathering "on the West Front of the Capitol to demand that President Bush and Congress save the assault weapons ban."

Snyder observed that, "if this is the best these gun grabbers can do, they're not getting much bang for their buck. Even if there were as many as 2,000 people at the rally and march, as the Associated Press estimates, that means the Brady bunch spent about $25 per person on the ad alone just to get the people to the limp, and this does not include whatever else they had to have spent on travel and other expenses. The Brady bunch is wasting its contributors' money."

The episode, says Snyder, "shows clearly that there certainly is not massive popular support for extending the ban on so-called assault weapons
Fun stuff huh?

Gun Control Supporters Rally In Capital

UPDATED: 6:48 pm EDT May 9, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Nick Wilcox wore a button with a picture of his late daughter and spoke of the satisfaction of joining other gun-control advocates Sunday at a rally to urge renewal of a federal ban on assault weapons. "It's always gratifying to be with kindred spirits, and that's what this is," said Wilcox, whose 19-year-old daughter, Laura, was one of two workers at a mental health department office in California shot to death in 2001 by a patient.

The assailant used a 9mm semiautomatic handgun with an illegal 30-round clip, Wilcox said. "I don't believe assault weapons belong on our streets. If people want to play with such tools, they should join the military," said Wilcox, who came from Nevada County, Calif., with his wife, Amanda, for the second "Million Mom March."
WTF? You mean a pistol is an assault weapon now? An illegal weapon in
the hands of a criminal makes citizens CRIMINALS? Fuck the size of the clip,
Lets get down to brass tacks here. We should disarm the public because a criminal
has a weapon?
*This is the exact mentality of the pacifists in America*
They must be stopped. And they are.

http://news.google.com/news?q=millio...-8&sa=N&tab=nn
Go read up on the spin for yourselves.

The goal is to disarm America. And their goal is fucked.
To bad huh? To bad only criminals can have guns. Isn't it rough for them
poor criminals when the general public is armed? Poor joe-schmo has a gun,
and is affraid to use it in a crime because the person he might rob could be armed.

That sucks when criminals must consider armed civilians here in America.
Huh Liberals? You're dreaming of a high crime rate so your Demorats can
regain their power.

Must suck to be a liberal these days. No-wonder your all so spitting angry.

YEEEHAAAW KENTUCKY!
COME GET MY GUN!

God Bless America
Zolmaz.

Not in America.

Zolmaz- did you read the other gun control thread recently?

I didn't think so. You should probably check that one out.

As to the March, I watched a couple minutes on CSpan while flipping around the TV last evening. Pretty boring stuff to be honest- I don't think the organizers did a very good job. There's lots to be discussed about gun control and I hardly think this did it justice.

Maybe this is just more Zolmaz-rage at women though. After all- A Million Mom March is bound to draw your ire, isn't it?

Just so you know, the Pro-gun rally drew 200 people. Rather weak also, but one never hears Zolmaz speak of that. Seems to me like either he doesn't like to look up those facts or that he doesn't want to tell anyone this part of the truth.

I don't think it says anything about organization. I think it shows the shifts our society has undergone towards more conservative views and non-restrictive personal freedoms. Maybe 998,000 women actually decided to read the second amendment...

I actually think it shows just how far down the gun control issue- pro or con- is on the political totem poll this election cycle. People are far more interested in Iraq and the economy than gun control.

BTW- "conservative views and non-restrictive personal freedoms"? Did I miss the memo on today being Oxymoron Day?

And I think Mother's Day was a really bad time to organize such a thing.

I agree- I understand what they're trying to do, but logistically speaking, it's not a good idea.
