Never pictured you suhthuhn boys as mixed drink imbibers. Other than the occasional gin and tonic, I leave mixed drinks for the ladies

I think the draft is a non issue at this time. Enlistment and Re-enlistment are showing strong numbers.

LOL, I have been busy this week, and haven't gotte nachance to see the responses to my post. I think that perhaps it was misunderstood. I never said I was better than anyone... I didn't even try to imply that.

K said:

but as Everclear is an example of one...I wouldnt want them with me anyway and they couldnt handle it if they did go.

This is totally the truth. My point was that I and society have put lots of time and money into training me to be something, but that something is not a soldier. My father was in Vietnam and Korea, MY Grandfathers were both in WWII and Korea. I come from a family of brick layers and seamstresses, hardly a Kennedy. However, at this point I have no training with weapons, and it would be a total waste of resources for me to go into combat. It would make absolutely no sense!

Someone asked how I am enriching society or them. Good question, and it is an example of how I am patriotic, but demonstrate it in a different way. Ignoring the volunteer work I do for children and AIDS victims, I also volunteer to do Taxes for the elderly for free, and in law school will be helping provide legal services to people for free. This is helping citizens enjoy the benifits of the American system.

It's easy to see my former post and think I am talking about personal worth, I'm not. What I am saying is that I have spent my life learning about the American system to help people emjoy its benefits, to send me or even others like me to combat (where we have little to no training, and could not really contribute to anything other than friendly fire from not knowing how to use guns), is absurdity.

It's not because our llives are worth more, it's just a matter of practicality. If it were up to me, no one would have to go. Anyway, misconstrue it as you will, I am not advocating compulsory service, anyway. I think it's wrong. I am not saying it's okay to draft anyone, all I am explaining is why I think drafting me would be ridiculous. I don't know if that makes me an elitist, I hope not.

Oh, and for the record.. I am a female, not a male. My father, who was drafted into the Korean/Vietnam conflicts (which the current situations are being compared to) is now in the process of being certified with post war shock syndrome. For those of you who haven't lived with the years of aftermath that can result from the mental damage caused by wars, or the side effects they can have on families of individuals involved...maybe you should do some research.

My father vowed that none of his children would ever have to go into the military like he did. I am sure it's great for some of you to beat on your chest and stroke your egos pretending to be "more of a man" because you would sign up, and that's great. But, for me personally, that's not something I want, and as an American I will maintain that choice, whether anyone likes it or not.

P.S. Being a 10 year old girl and seeing your father crying uncontrollably = not cool. Almost as not cool as sitting on some electronic boards and thinking anyone thinks more of you for posting that you're a "big man".

thats all it really amounts to ever.

I am a man and a american because i eat red meat, shoot at birds and whip my boy and spill my beer at the same time! if my boy doesnt want to kill he must be a queer, you pride sickens me, because your pride makes it so you can never admit your wrong, i guess that is why you stick to backing your boys in office no matter who they fuck, or how much they run up.

have to laugh, never seen a "compassionate conservative" that thinks its fine to cut funding for no child left behind as well as run up the biggest war debt and peace time debt in american history, his slogan is out of date.

Ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to introduce our new form of government.

fascism
  1. often Fascism
    1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
    2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
  2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

Nah doubt it. I don't know much about politics beyond an intense desire to be locked in a room alone with Bush for 15 minutes...long enough for me to beat that smug look off of his face.

However, me and about 8 friends and a few of my family registered this year for the first time in our lives just to vote against him.

Sorry but we failed that one right there. There are 2 other branches that have just as much power as the executive branch. They can even kick him out.

Little do you know Ulujain. I did sign up in the late 70's. I came back after the physical as a 4F. They said I had a heart murmer. I do not have a heart murmer. Didn't then and don't now. Something tells me at the time they weren't keen on females unless you were a nurse.
