Default War Heroes....

Allot has been made of Kerry being a war hero and his service in Vietnam. The left have made tried to make this an issue over and over again by comparing his service to that of Bush's.

So my question is this:

Did you vote for Bush (41) over Clinton? After all Bush (41) was a war hero and Clinton never even served. Did you vote for Dole over Clinton? After all Dole was war hero and Clinton never served. If not, why is it an issue now?

I never quite understood the whole war hero thing. Democrats think someone who has excelled in killing people and constantly calls himself a fighter will do more to end a war he himself voted for over a guy who has seen no combat and is trying to stick to a set date to end fighting.

-edit-

Even the anti war protestors think Kerry is trouble

On Wednesday, during a question-and-answer session at an event at City College of New York, Kerry was challenged by a questioner who said there was little difference between Kerry and Bush on the war.

Retired college professor Walter Daum angrily accused the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of backing an imperialist policy in Iraq and called on him to demand the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops.

"You voted for this," Daum shouted. As he spoke, a group stood silently and unfurled a large sign that read, "Kerry take a stand: Troops out now."

Exasperated, Kerry said at one point, "You're not listening."

Dems don't give a shit about whether you are a war hero or not. However, the Dems were not going to let Bush do what they did to Max Cleland with Kerry. They were not going to let the Republicans run on patriotism and that point has not been lost on the public. The Dems strategy is to make Bush run on the ISSUES since almost any Republican president falls way behind when they have to actually run on the issues.
Guess it can't be about running on the flag this year. Guess Bush can't knock Kerry's military record or his committment to his country this year, because Kerry served bravely.
Guess it will have to be on issues instead. Too bad. Bush sucks on the issues.

It's an issue because it suits our purposes for it to be so this time around. Surely you dopes aren't this clueless? Much as repugs are wise to move the service debate as far to the periphery in this election the dems were in 92/96.

Take notes boys- next time in Basic Fucking Politics 101 we'll discuss why Bush doesn't talk about his dear chum Kenneth Lay and if we get really advance, why Prescott Bush's ties to the Nazi regime aren't a staple of GOP campaigning.

Maybe because the people claiming those ties are crackpots and there were no official investigations ? unlike of course Joe kennedy

Some HIGHLY biased news outlets here- but the research behind them is what counts, so dispute that if you will. Whether he sympathized with Nazis is not something I'm aware of, but he had no problem doing business with their financiers- not that he was alone in that behavior as Chuk rightfully points out. Joe Kennedy was an opportunist without parallel certainly.

I think they only hype Kerry's war time service to attract other vets and/or people who think that matters. Libs dont care because they think the world would work without war. Sucks we have to have it but the pursuit of power and control has ruined it all.

from one of your links which you should read.
Fritz Thyssen (search) was an early financial supporter of Hitler, whose Nazi party Thyssen believed was preferable to communism. The documents do not show any evidence Bush directly aided that effort. His position with Union Banking never was a political issue for Bush, who was elected to the Senate from Connecticut in 1952.

Chuk- did he, or did he not engage in business relationships with known Nazi financier Fritz Thyssen?
