Default Janet Reno & Louis Freeh

I was listening and watching the 9/11 panels this morning...

1. The Freeh testimony was very enlightening. It pointed out the difficulties associated with preventing 9/11. He said that with known events with a known place, time, etc... there were months of planning and coordination, plus reallocations of agents (which had to be authorized by congress), for events such as the 1996 Olympics. He said it would be VERY difficult to keep up that type of operation even for weeks following the event, especially if there were no known place, date, and time.

2. Janet Reno...though I really didn't have a favorable view of her...I have a better view of her now. Last week when Dr. Rice said that the officer who was instrumental in thwarting the LAX bomb plot...she said it really had nothing to do with any specific policies put in place by the Clinton administration. Well, one of the Dems on the panel asked Janet Reno if the thwarting of that bomb plot was a direct result of the policies put in place...and she said (paraphrasing) "No, it had to do with good police work. It was a lucky break. We can learn from lucky breaks."

That statement from Reno contradicts a lot of the Dems who have criticized Rice for her statment about the account of the bomb plot thwartation.

Fun stuff!!!!

"Thwartation" might be the coolest word I've heard today. I don't know if it truly exists, but I'm gonna start using it- liberally (/zing!).

/bow to the dictionary

Vagaries it is. However- my post was not a word police nitpick but rather an actual appreciation of the word Martigan may have created.

You don't laugh much in life do you Crimsonedge?

Thwartation just seemed to fit...I "made it up" within my realm of understanding...though in the realm of the internet, it is not a new word...I just found that out. If you do a search on the word with Google, you will find about 8 examples.

Here are some good words:

1. Creasters: People who only go to church on Christmas and Easter.
2. Pacifistration: Pacifying (to restore to a tranquil state) people by means of castration.
3. Quagmiration: The admiration of a "quagmire" that is a detriment of your opponent.
