teachers are drilling into their head that America is bad and Socialism is good.
What school did you go to and when? My teachers never taught anything like that.

Sometimes Zolmaz just makes me want to scream.

Ok, I'll come clean! Yes! It's all a BIG LIBERAL PLOT!!!!

All the schools are run by liberals! All liberals are homosexuals out to rape your baby! IT'S ALL TRUE!!!!

Newsflash peabrain... I'm not a liberal. Most people who know me would laugh at the idea. In all reality, with a few specific objections, I am extremely conservative. I want to go back to the days of stay at home moms/housewives... your vaunted "Family Values" that one specific one of my ideas I support is supposedly against.

While I am not a Christian, I hold many of the same values... again, aside from two (homosexuality is a sin and animals don't have souls). But then, my personal religious beliefs tell me that the name you swear by is less important than the acts you perform.

And yet... even given the fact that I am probably one of the most conservative people you will meet... I get insulted with the term liberal (not that being liberal is an insult... the way you use it is an insult). I get repeatedly told I want to molest children or in other ways support the molestation of children. The very idea makes me want to vomit, much like most of your posts.

What kind of small minded dickless coward are you that you have to attack anyone around you that cannot defend themselves and/or is "different". You were that little twat in gradeschool who told the retarded boy to eat paper weren't you? The tiny little boy in the big body who beat up the 1st graders and stole thier lunch money?

People like you make me sick. You can't even manage a civil debate can you? And to think I once thought you were a decent guy if a bit loud. Thank heavens for this forum so that I could see just how small your manhood really is.

And ya know what? Even if you showed up here in all your small minded bigoted rightousness and beat the living daylights out of me you would never be able to change my stance on these topics. Why? Because unlike you I do not believe might makes right. And the more you persecute someone helpless, the smaller you make yourself look.

So in closing... go to hell Zolmaz. And take your homophobic good ole boys buddies with you.

So, he wants to play the spelling nazi in one post, then type like this in another? Here, let me put it in terms you'll understand. YOU ARE = YOU'RE!!!

Now, on to more pertinent matters. Shadowedspawn asks a legitimate question in a non-confrontational manner and you blast him for it? All the while chiding him because he doesn't post here much. I think it's ironic how you equate time spent on this board with a poster's worth. You are here night and day, yet you criticize someone who chooses to spend his free time in a more recreational manner. You have posted no facts, you have not backed up any statements addressing socialism being taught in schools. So, produce some evidence, other than what the voices tell you, or shut the fuck up.

Most young people are registered Democrats...until they get older, make some money, try to make ends meet, and become practical thinking adults...then they switch to Republican.

These Democrats must be afraid of something...maybe the Arnold phenomenon...to make them so afraid of losing power in California that they would be willing to give teenagers (under 18) the right to vote.

What crap. It'd more fair to say most young people don't give a rat's ass either way; a fact borne out by the middling turnout the average election gets.

And people wonder why I don't talk about my age on this board...

Somehow we've decided "age" is the determining factor of "intelligence", or as Siil put it, "wisdom". It would be more accurate to call it "experience" if you want to keep it in EQ terminology.

I've known mature and wise 12-year olds, and childish moronic babbling twits twice my age (don't believe me? Take a look at Zolmaz). Yeah, you have the equally childish and immature 12-year olds as well, but that's expected. And assuming that a part of "growing up" (i.e. aging) involves accumulating intelligence is just stupid.

18 is just about right for the voter age just because of societal reasons. Compulsory public education means that any child under 18 has priorities above politics he or she should be worried about, even if that's suddenly become the opposite of late. I don't see why the legal alcohol age can't be 18 as well, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

Anyway, I find the allocation of a partial vote an intriguing prospect, even if I think it's misguided and lame (in the true sense of the word). It assuredly couldn't reduce voter turnout for minors, since it's at 0 already, but would it perhaps reduce turnout in 18-21 year olds? Those voters already may feel their vote is worthless, and if they're accustomed to only having a quarter or half vote for 4 years, the mentality might stick.

I hate arguments over age that involve mental maturity. Ohysical, sure, I'll take up a debate on that, but there are no physical requisites to vote. It's all about responsibility.

And to anyone who seriously suggests raising the voter age to 25, I'd like to extend an uncharacteristic, but unequivocal, "fuck you".

You bring up a good point. But lets look at the age for a moment.

18 is a valid voting age. And imo should be kept there untill a valid reason
can be made for changing it.

19 is the actual age I started voting. And my parents never told me
who to vote for. What they did was make me register, and from there my
curiosity got the better of me and I voted.

I have a question,
How many here have parents that gave them voter forms to fill out between 18-25?
I'm sure the number is low. But if more parents just asked their children
to register, there would be a higher turn out. And an explaination about
why registering to vote is so important.

I love democracy..

I registered shortly after I turned 18. My parents didn't pressure me or anything; they didn't do much of that at all in my life anyway.

There is an interest in the political process, but not in politics-as-usual that we deal with nowadays.

As expected, Zolmaz demonstrates a total lack of reading comprehension. I didn't say that I lack interest in politics, but that many young voters do.

And when does "politics-as-usual" apply? Look around you. It's nothing but a big shit-slinging fest where the issues get shoved aside and agendas are all that matter. This happens with both sides equally; I'd like to see it change, but unfortunately it only seems to get worse.
