Default Gay marriage, 14 year olds voting, Whats next on the Agenda?

You read the tittle correctly.

California lawmakers propose lowering voting age to 14 for state elections
JIM WASSERMAN, Associated Press Writer
Monday, March 8, 2004
2004 Associated Press
A proposed amendment to California's constitution would give 16-year-olds a half-vote and 14-year-olds a quarter-vote in state elections.

State Sen. John Vasconcellos (D), among four lawmakers to propose the idea on Monday, said the Internet, cellular phones, multichannel television and a diverse society makes today's teens better informed than their predecessors.

"When we gave the vote to those who didn't own property, then to women, then to persons of all colors, we added to the richness of our democratic dialogue and our own nation's integrity and its model for the world," Vasconcellos said, calling it time to further extend the vote.

A Republican colleague said it was "the nuttiest idea I've ever heard."

What's next?

I know. Lowering the sexual age of concent. Why not?, their agenda so far

has been brought into the legal system!

If you can make 14-year-olds old enough to vote then why not debate

the age of consent?

They can Vote afterall.. And according to the constitution your an adult *Add lib spin* and you can vote, then your an adult!!

But why? Why allow minors to vote? Because if they can, then they are

considered adults. But Why consider them adults? ------->

So old perverts can have sex with children.

The agenda is clear. Gay marriage, Children votes, children considered adults,

child sex without prison.

*But Why Zolmaz?*

Because this is America. And minority homo's want to have sex with your children.

GOD SAVE AMERICA Zolmaz.

California Lawmakers Want Voting Age Lowered to 14
Mon Mar 8, 2004 09:58 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Four Democratic California lawmakers on Monday proposed giving teenagers as young as 14 the right to vote in a move that would make the often trailblazing state the first in the nation to do so.
Under the proposal, youths under the current legal voting age of 18 would be able to cast ballots in state and local elections only, although their vote would not have full weight that an adult vote would.

For example, a vote cast by a 14 or 15-year-old would be counted as a quarter of a vote, and a vote by a 16 or 17-year-old would be counted as half a vote.

Lawmakers say giving teenagers partial votes would get them interested in the election process and would not violate the U.S. Constitution as long as it only applied to state ballots.

"We believe it's time to open up the franchise to young Californians at the age of 14, let them register and vote and be seriously included in the process," said Democratic State Senator John Vasconcellos.

Sue North, chief of staff for Vasconcellos, said that if the proposal passes, it would be the first time any state would have amended its constitution to allow high school students to vote.

Just ignore Zolmaz.

Not that I've managed that feat by any means unfortunately.

Fortunately, I am able to just view his posts as verbal vomit and it makes it slightly easier to bear.

Are these the same 14 year olds we consider responsible enough to execute for criminal behaviour? Strange mixed message. They know enough to be accountable for their actions, but not enough to vote?

Personally I think executing a kid is about as silly as letting him vote. Thats just me though.

Default On the subject of jesus

"Jesus fucken christ you damn homophobic assholes."

There were (supposed) accounts of Jesus privately teaching little boys the "light of god." Thought the explitive, in this case, was very appropriate. Good job.

I need to go to quoting school...

I think it is a hideous idea to let children vote. They haven't the maturity nor wisdom garnered to (some) adults. Not that I think 18 is the magical # for maturity and wisdom, mind you...but it is a helluva lot closer than 14! Personally, perhaps they should raise the voting age to 25.

To address a comment about allowing children be charged with capital crimes...I feel there is a distinct difference in knowing right from wrong and helping elect people into positions of power. Children reach the "age of reason" around 8 or 9 years old. By then, they -should- have the basic concept that robbing a liquor store is bad, murdering little old ladies is bad, and shooting your way through school 'cause people pick on you is bad. No comparison to voting rights.

Getting them interested in voting however isn't a half bad idea. I don't think giving them a vote is quite the way to do it, but given the dismal voter turnout last decade or two, might help to get them interested.

Course, if it was legal I could just SEE some of the campaign promises... "No school on Mondays!" "Shorter school years!" "Candy for Everybody!" <snicker>

Surely they can think of a better way than this to get kids interested... <shrug>

And to a 45-year-old, you 35s are just as stupid, uninformed and irrational. It is human nature to look down on those younger than you, although, there are exceptions, of course. I'm only 32, but you'll never hear me saying that I know everything (unlike some of you folks, apparently).

If my interest in voting has to come from a 14 year old going down to election day at the polls....theres really somthing wrong around here....maybe its just me. Now when I was in highschool (late 80's early 90's) we had mock elections in our school every year. Yeah I think it was my freshman year that Garfield was elected Govenor of Texas by a landslide vote. Hmm...Now the only way Brittany Spears will ever get my vote is....she poses for Playboy. We pulled the top off the wrong chick. Brittany's tits or bust!

Actually there is another Agenda for 14-year olds to vote.
It's called indoctrination. The schools have turned liberal to a point
that many parents have taken their children out of school so that their
free thinking cannot be demoralized by propaganda.

Children should understand on their own through education only.
And at 14 there is no way to make a proper judgment when the teachers
are drilling into their head that America is bad and Socialism is good.

18 is the right age. Allthough young it's the age of law. And law is the common
good that keeps our society intact and functional.

Bleemus, keep asking questions. Ask them your entire life.
Btw, I remember those mock elections in school,
we had a blast with the social science teacher.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
Zolmaz.
