What a crock of shit...

"There's no question that indecency in the media is a disease that's infecting all of society," said Rep. Maurice Hinchey (search), D-N.Y. But this bill deals "only with the symptoms of the problem and not with the underlying cause," which, he said, is having fewer owners of the airwaves.
Yeah, Janet Jackson showing her shrivelled tit was what was indecent, not the nudity. It would have been decent if Pamela Anderson showed hers. No crime there!

House Passes Broadcast Decency Bill

Thursday, March 11, 2004
By Liza Porteus
WASHINGTON — In the wake of the so-called "wardrobe malfunction" during this year's Super Bowl, federal lawmakers passed a measure Thursday to hit TV and radio broadcasters with heftier penalties for violating decency rules.
A fucking boob.

I'll take a stab at this from another perspective. And hopefully
my non-existant html skills won't fail me this time.

What actually seems to be happening here is over reaction by clear-channel
and the Fcc and the goodie two shoe's in power.

It did start with the Janet Jackson wrinkled boob show, yet it didn't stop there.
Most can agree that it was wrong and the parties involved should
be fined or shunned. But instead of a Fine or a loss of contracts, (only),
people are taking extreme measures. And i'll explain like Rush did a while back.

Lets say we have a pendulum. The left swing represents well, the left, and the
Right etc. Lets say the Right is good and the left is evil, now there is a balance
that exists to how far to the evil side is tollerated and also to the right.

But what happens here is that, ok Janet showed her boob on TV. It's done.
But in order to equal things out and in an effort to even out the field
of Right and left, the've taken the Pendulum and are swinging it further
to the right (good) to make up for the smaller swing to the Left (Evil).

Mix them up any way you want. But the point is that instead of trying to
fix the specific problems in a diplomatic way, they have gone over the
line of the right. And in doing this nobody can win, and no side will
be satisfied.

There are many other examples of this occuring. To much extreme instead
of trying to balance it out in the proper way, so that nobody is insulted
and the show can go on.

Clear channel can change all the policies they want, it's their company. But the fine is the example of the extreme swing of the pendulum to try and
make up for the mess that could have been avoided in the first place.

Just my take on it. The example was something I've heard on Rush and other
stations. And I think it's a fair anology.

The changes that were passed were in the works prior to the superbowl, all that did was help them get passed faster. Just FYI.

I was making an Analogy to the extremes that happen on both
sides of certain issues, not debating law.
Thanks for the FYI though.
