Default The New Style

It's not yet finished but it's getting close. As you can see it's not the style that the majority voted for because I really disliked reading yellow and orange on black/grey. I hope that everyone agrees that this is a good alternative.

I'd love to hear feedback about what you do and don't like about the layout and of course of any errors you encounter.

I've also added an option for an expanding/'liquid' layout for those who wish not being restricted to a layout based on 800 * 600 although I advice to use a fixed width because the styles were designed that way.

You can find the style chooser at the bottom. It also has an option to change back to the default looks for those who really hate it.

Looks really great...only thing that is bothering me are how the quote boxes are done now, and that it says "/end quote" at the end. I keep thinking someone messed up on the command, then realise that its working as intended!

Awesome work though!

Ok, is this better? I made a line at the bottom so folks can see when they're using too many enters. If it's annoying I can remove it tho. I removed the '/' if that makes it any better

I'd like to suggest replacing the text color of the thread titles on the main page and the member names when you view a thread from the greyish color it is now to a goldish color like in the banner.

Or if not that.. something with the text colors. The black and gray background look awesome but there's just a lot of grey when reading the posts.

Will there be anyway to use a 'local/user' color scheme ?

The reason I ask is that for some of us we read these boards from work.. a light color scheme blends in with other work related boards and colleagues dont look over your shoulder at that...

Anything 'Dark' and I for one cannot use the board from work at all

You can select the default blue & white style too.

I like the new look a bunch...would it be possible to put the "Quote" buttons back in though? I know it's relatively redundant (can do the [Quote] stuff) but it was a nice quick-n-easy shortcut. Or am I simply missing something somewhere? Thanks!

I consider adding a quote reply button once most grew accustom with the manual quoting since the whole idea of a quote button is that people cut the quote down to what they need, usually merely a line or two.

Top notch, had to 'select' to see a hotlink against the input box background but all aside this is a really nice looking board.

You can select the default blue & white style too.
Can't see how to select this, can someone give a 'step by step' please?

Scoll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a menu that says "---- black - fixed". You can select the default style there. I'll add the words style to them to make it more obvious to everyone. You can choose between fixed width and expanding width too.

What editor do you use? The What You See Is What You Get? Or do you have to use [ url ] code in your editor?

**Just found editor options in User CP** (It was set to WYSIWYG)
____________________________________________________________ _________

X|If I used a text editor it'd be notepad.|X

I leave the miscellaneous option 'Automatically parse links in text' checked in the Additional Options menu box of the bulletin board Reply to Thread screen.

what I see is the text box background is white. When a url is typed in it becomes white too. Character spaces stay there: in this case I guess it is not wysiwyg. You really don't know anything is going to mouse-over. I haven't left such a link as is to see if the result became visible in preview. Instead I removed 'dots' ie. www gerundian dude com or www whereisthatpen org

Call me timid.

Dragging over the whited out character spacing will highlight a link inside it. However, the highlighted text masking is reversed: the hyperlink text now shows in highlight color and the area selected is off-white around it.

Dragging the mouse over plain text is highlighting same as normal. Hope that's clear as mud.
