Default Nice Banner...but...

The greys are off, You can see the background of the banner which kinda makes it look nasty...

Im such a nit-picker...

BTW Why'd you guys choose vBulletin for the forums? While nice there are better alternatives for free...phpbb for one.

I don't know what you mean with the shadow thing. You mean the white behind the shadow before turning into grey? It's just a temp logo anyway, until I get the whole layout done.

And phpbb is an alternative, but not a better one. When administrating one you definitely notice the major differences, no matter how much you want to hack phpbb from the original download.

Does it matter a whole lot if I click the Emarr "sponsors" often?

Always wondered =P

If you occasionally click on the sponsors you would be interested in taking a look at (I mean, who doesn't want to own their own EQ newbie guide?) then yes, we do gain from that, but don't repeatedly visit the same one more than once on the same day just to support us because eventually they will consider it abuse of their program and may start ignoring your IP/ISP entirely.

Pfft I do Admin a Forum/Site. I love PhpBB. You can even use PhpNuke or e107. They are great systems... and free...

wowalehouse.com
Its a site im apart off, web programing mainly.

Not talking about the shadow of the image, rather the background... where its suppose to blend in with the background of the site, the color is off.

I'd take Invision Board over phpBB and vBulletin any day. vBulletin doesn't even let you try their scripts without upfront costs. phpBB has too many silly little quirks for my liking, not the least of which is funky cookie handling. It also is heavily dependent upon its default template, subSilver. Deviate from that, and you'll be sorry, especially if you start adding mods and hacks to it.

Invision Board is a commercial product like vBulletin, but it's yours for free to download and use. The commercial part comes into play if you want "real" support or you want to get rid of copyright notices.

The response and execution time of Invision Board is infinitely better than phpBB and quite a bit better than vBulletin.

IB's features and ease of admin use are probably a touch ahead of vBulletin's and a light year ahead of an un-modded phpBB install.

Having run boards using all three, I'd go with Invision Board in a heartbeat. I just wish there was some CMS integration for it...

Edit: This should be fixed. I made it a .GIF instead.

And about the vbulletin/phpbb discussion it's like discussing Coke and Pepsi, we will never agree

Coke and Pepsi are of fairly equal value. phpBB doesn't hold a candle in any way to vBulletin except in price, and you're definitely getting what you're paying for with phpBB.

Oh, I didn't know there was any difference between vbulletin, phpbb, etc...shows what I know I guess. >^-^<

Anyhow the eqpixel army boards use phpbb and they're the niftiest looking boards I've seen:

http://www.eqpixelarmy.com/phpBB2/index.php

But they are run by a bunch of artists.

The appearance is the least important. I could make this vbulletin board look exactly the same. It's all about the 'mechanics' behind the nifty layout.
