Default kerryn, whats the verdict?

I know its still too early and you're under an NDA, but you arent breaking anything by giving an opinion of SWG.

I can tell you what I think about it...

I played about a week and stopped because they had a player wipe and I didn't want to start over again...I don't have a lot of patience.

My wife plays a lot, and I watch her play as I play EQ. She really enjoys it, but only when she has friends on in game that she met in EQ. When her friends are not on, she loses interest in fighting and just does stuff like mining, or making armor.

When my wife is gone at school at nights and I'm home, she leaves her character on and has me push some button occasionally that has her char mine for stuff.

I think the entertainers are a riot mainly because of how the folks make their characters look...fat balding human in a wife-beater dancing alongside a fat grey-haired wookie in the cantina is quite humorous.

***My original opinion stands that if you are one of EQs drifters who waits for things to happen to you, you won't enjoy the game. It doesn't lead you on a linear course and force feed you like EQ does. To some thats a bad thing.

But if you are one of the people who likes to makes things happen there are infinite possibilities and you'll find it very rewarding.

The one mistake a lot of testers are making is that they are comparing the beta as it stands to other games which have been running for several years. These select few are talking about a lack of content but I think that's unfair when you consider how much content EQ went live with.***

I am never one to wait for something to happen, i get very hands on if i see something isnt being done the way i think it should, i have beta tested 5 SoE betas and was also invited for SWG but i declined (deleted it) becuase of the lack of space travel, an end game, vehicles and i really hate (and still despise) the races they give you to play with being touted at the time.

i dont see any of these things being added/changed or even hinted at being addressed anytime soon. i wanted a space battle planet exploring adventure, not SimCity with a star wars skin. Planetside failed in this too, boring goob fest . I guess our tastes differ. oh well, im glad you at least like it. ill eat some crow but not a lot becuase it doesnt sound like something for me.

-edit-
Oh good lord, it goes live in a week.

The best anology for SWG is that if you liked UO then you will like SWG. I didn't like UO and I didn't like SWG.

Of course I'm more of a powergamer and SWG doesn't cater to my style of gaming

A Star Wars game with no space travel?

OMFG...that is fucking pathetic. Pivotal part of the Star Wars milieu, asteroid fields and the whole 9 yards and you're telling us they don't have it?

Geez, do you click on a book to get to Hoth in this game as well?

A Star Wars game with no space travel...

Car with no engine, pub with no beer...

The first expansion...already well in the works is adding space flight. SOE had a good response to it when people heard this and said wtf.

Basically, it would take the amount of time for the first expansion to come out before anyone could afford a space ship anyway...so why hold up the whole game?

Worst logic ever. You pay for star wars, you should get friggin star wars , you dont pay for research of an expansion that may have star travel. Would you have gone to see the film if all it was was luke running around the desert bonking kratedragons on the head then run to a cantina for a gay concert?

The difference being that the movie encompased a long period of time, would you have watched the movie if the first minute was luke killing dragons then going to a cantina?
