Default Anything else out there?

Well since I retired from eq in December I've gone through about 8 games, 2 of which were MMORPGs. Anyone have any suggestions on games that are entertaining and last longer than a week?
...Or is Everquest the only game that meets that criteria?

Battlefield, is a blast. Also, it's somewhat small still, but the on-line Neverwinter Nights crowd usually has some fun games going.

Warcraft 3 frozen throne if you are feeling competitive. That is what I'm doing right now. It sets the background for WoW. As for battlefield 1942, it was fun while it lasted (I didn't own the game but my roommate did). I think there are too many wwII games out there.

Might help to know what 8 games you are referring to.

Right now I am going through Dungeon Siege(again) in prep for purchasing the expansion. I've been looking for FF11 but haven't found it in stores yet. If you like FPSs and don't mind the WWII theme, then BF1942 and MoH are good suggestions.

Do you have any game systems? That might be an option too. I got my husband a PS2 for Valentine's Day and I've enjoyed watching him play Outlaw Volleyball.

They're really completely different games though. BF1942 Is just Tribes with a WW2 makeover(Don't believe me? Check out the jetpack in the expansion) Call of Duty is a more realistic and era-driven incarnation of the genre.

Call of Duty is 'teh' suck If you enjoy a game without any AI and that has almost each (re)action being caused by a walk-over-me-to-activate trigger then this is your game. The trigger fest reminded me of the Wolfenstein 3D/Doom/Duke Nukem 3D days. That's single player for you.

If you do want something to play, try Painkiller. I believe it still has to be finished/released but you can download the demo and see if it's your kind of game. It has physics almost identical to HL2 but it's still lacking objects to blow up

Painkiller is fun. Something new (Not really new, but an idea that hasn't been played out a lot lately) and creative.

Default Dc

For a twist on BF1942, download the Desert Combat mod. It replaces all models with new era weapons, etc. You can fly an Apache, F-14, drive a Bradley, etc. It definitely made 1942 more enjoyable to play.

Isn't there a Star Wars mod floating around too?

Yeah, the star wars mod is for Unreal Tournament, http://www.ut2003troopers.com

I still play Neverwinter Nights from time to time. I don't really get into the roleplay but any really well constructed module is worth going through either solo or finding someone over at http://www.neverwinterconnections.com, and addional modules by the truckload can be had over at http://www.nwvault.com

Dungeon Siege is really nice graphically, but the original game gold old *very* fast for me, and the harder levels was the same content with more mobs... sigh. I heard there is a new expansion, and there are a few mods out there (someone is doing Ultima V for Dungeon Siege I hear). That might be fun to play again.

I love Secret Weapons of WW2 for BF1942 and Desert Combat is even better. Call of Duty is kinda lame imo. UT04 demo is awesome too.
