The movie was dumb. It was one of the few movies I felt were a waste of a rental fee... if I'd seen it in a theatre I'd I'd have to go to lawschool and then file a class action suit against the makers for false advertisement... calling the movie entertainment.

Calvin and Hobbs is a funny strip, probably one of my favorites of all times. I never had an imaginary friend (I had a kid across the street who was my partner in crime) but I can relate to a lot of it.

Interesting read. May have to actually watch Fight Club sometime and dig out my old Calvin & Hobbes compilations.

well, without actually backing up your statement on how the movie was unentertaining, I'll just have to disagree greatly, having read the book and seen the movie and finding both quite entertaining. And the comparative analysis to C&H was lovely =)

Then again you didn't back up why it was so entertaining. Thats fine. I don't expect or want to get in a conversation about the movie. I just figured there may be people out there who haven't seen the movie... if they read nothing but "this movie is great" from people with no taste they may be disappointed when they rent it and find out I was right... without the benefit of at least being forewarned.

People who enjoyed Fight Club have plenty of taste, it just doesn't match yours.

Fight Club was marketed as a typical cheap Guy Movie. I'll admit that I had no interest in seeing it until my friends bought it and I watched it at their place one afternoon. The first time I saw it, I wasn't all that impressed, but by the eventual second and third time, it had really grown on me. I think my original low expectations were responsible for my not enjoying it the first go-around.

There are a few movies that I even refuse to see (Gigli Anyone? How bout Glitter? The Real Cancun? Oh oh I know, The Adventures of Pluto Nash!)

But the truth is you ever really know what people will and won't like. Hell, I've had middle-aged upper-middle-class white couples come in and tell me how much they loved 8-Mile. It's just a good case of "To each their own".
