Default Toxx - your sig is killing my machine!

Toxx,

I put this in R&F, but this isn't anything vicious against you, although you are the subject.

Could you possibly adjust your signature? It SERIOUSLY slows my computer at work when I'm reading these boards.

Ordinary threads that you haven't posted in are no problem, but ANYWHERE you've posted bogs my computer down to almost a complete halt.

At home, it isn't a problem at all on my PC, but at work, on this gimpy government machine, it is a big hassle for me to even hit the BACK button in a thread that you've made a comment in.

The swirly water effect is cool and everything, but could you either get rid of it, shrink it, or just turn your sig off when posting at Ogmuk's? Pretty please? The picture itself is huge, and combined with the effect it just makes reading the boards a PITA when you comment in so many threads every day.

Thanks for your attention,

Toxx..I had the same problem with the same applet a while back and had to remove it from my the guilds boards. It was killing everyone with a low speed processor.

If you don't want to nuke the sig go and download anfy and use that one. You have better options to set the parameters to a lower setting.

Seriously though you should think about removing it. It only really works at the top of a page that does not scroll.

Ooh, he's the one that IE keeps telling me I need to install java virtual machine to view, isn't he? My gimpy non-profit machine doesn't like it either <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT="">

Default Krokat - troll elsewhere please

Hail Krokat,

Some of the applicable references:
a) DOD 5500.7-R (Joint Ethics Regulation)
b) DODDIR 1344.10
c) SECNAVINST 5300.26c
d) NAVREGS 1167

Quoting from my local instruction (which I won't give the title & serialized inst. # for because of privacy reasons) governing Internet Usage Policy:
Personnel have been encouraged and granted permission to use the Internet for personal purpose as long as use is of reasonable duration and frequency and when possible during personal time. The use of the Internet is subject to necessary limitations. References (a) through (d) pertain.
Quoting from the Information Systems User Policy Statement that I signed prior to getting computer access:
Personal use of the Internet must be reasonable in frequency and duration with no adverse impact on readiness, mission accomplishment, or performance of official duties.
I do my job, and I do it well. I have seven computers (one is a server) in my three-man office. I use the slowest and oldest computer for the time I spend on these boards, and I only go to the boards once my work is done, and then for only a limited period of time.

As active duty military, my pay isn't hourly, so the amount of time I am at work (or at home) doesn't affect my salary at all.

So "your" tax dollars aren't being wasted or abused by me. And I'd hazard a guess that I've paid more total taxes so far than you have, so go piss up a rope. (Gee, I'm glad I put this in R&F after all! )

PS: Toxx, it is evident I'm not alone, so please, please delete at least the applet portion of your signature!

Take care,

Frekkels,

Save your holier than though attitude.. I was making a smartass remark.

However .. I will promise to go "piss up a rope" if you in return promise not to piss down my back and tell me its raining.

Krokat,

I'm sorry. I over reacted to your remark. I've been having some extra stress in my life lately with some close family members in the hospital. When stressed-out, my tolerance for wise-asses diminishes and I tend to lash out quickly and often-times inappropriately.

Once again, my apologies.

PS: Skies are clear, no rain in the forecast.

Take care,

That's not my computer, it's a site a guy has set up where he has a web cam pointed at his comp and you can type sh|t in and see the results displayed in real time via his screensaver, quite nifty.

I found myself playing with his sig. It's pretty nice for those that can get it to load.

Thinks of pretty little hearts on water.

I suppose I'll switch to something new. I'm running cable, on a decent processor speed, so I never really noticed it, and blindly thought no one else did either. However, I can switch to something else, doesn't bug me at all.

:P

Y'all are going to let an "apology-given ==> apology-accepted" interchange in R&F go by without pointing out how bitchin' cool honourable and classy that is?

I'm not.

Way to go, guys.

Default Regs

Hey! I was so bored I actually researched those regs. (Excluding the installation one of course... ).

/agree Theo

Very nice to see a *fight* resolved in such a "Manly" manner. :d

Thx for changin' the sig Toxx. It really does mess w/ our "wimpy goverment computers".

By the way, anyone who hasn't stopped by Dwarkarn's site, you should. He has some really funny things there. Last night I giggled myself into fits of laughter over one of the links (the 10 worst Nintendo games ever or something like that)

giggle gnome,
