I've been to Edmonton when its been that cold. Was...2 years ago. -40C, which is basically the same in F. At that point, the equation reverses itself and F is actually the lower number. It was an amusing observation.

Had to load a cat scanner into the back of a shipping truck. It took 4 hours. So I'm there, in jeans and street shoes. Usually loads don't take quite that long. Ever had ice form in your socks? Fuck, man.

Meh, Edmonton is the witches tit.

Vancouver does get snow. It just never stays and people tend to shovel it while wearing their shorts(mosty for the tv crews to piss off the rest of Canada).

They don't need to salt their roads because they are right on the freaking Ocean.

Besides, you're still hung up on the old terminology. It's "climate change" now.

I just took a look at weather.com. They show the following as the record highs for Miami:

Dec 7: 86F (1978)
Dec 8: 86F (1942)
Dec 9: 86F (1997)
Dec 10: 86F (1896)
Dec 11: 85F (1997)
Dec 12: 87F (1986)
Dec 13: 89F (1900)

I hope you don't mind me publishing my denier propaganda in your journal. May I see your raw data, or have you already destroyed it?

Yeah, I keep hearing about the plight of small islands which are getting swallowed up by the rising oceans, caused by the melting polar ice caps, and I kind of wonder why this isn't noticed more in the US. After all, if the oceans are rising by several feet, I would expect places like Galveston would be also notice the encrouching waters. Maybe water fears getting too near the rich countries? Not sure.

Well, global warming pops up in pockets of record breaking temps around the world, then after color thumb tacks are placed on a map (almost resembling the Verizon phone map) representing the location of the "hot spot", scientists begin the rigorous method of counting the thumb tacks. What they have determined is that the number of thumb tacks being placed on the world map is increasing, so global warming must be increasing, although it is only manifested in specific places as "record heat" indicated by the color thumb tacks.

Does that scientific explanation help locate global warming?
