Default Better late than never...

I refuse to left the bard section be the last to post here. I know there's only a handful running around these boards. Or maybe it's because we're saving our wrists for ingame song-spam because our carpel tunnel only allows for so much

My only gripe with bard twisting hotkeys is the ever present
You miss a note, bringing your song to a close!
Me's not gonna pay 2/4/6 AAP for Channeling Focus ... yet.

I get sleepy long before RSI becomes an issue.
I mean really, isn't {112233} too easy?

Channeling Focus hardly even works. When they first changed what it did, it worked great... because instead of providing 5, 10, and 15% reductions to missed notes, it was providing 105, 110, and 115% reductions. Since it was scaled back "as intended" it works once a day at best.

Regardless, Temperance is totally right. Between the way macros work in EQ and the rate of occurance of missed notes, setting up twisting hotkeys is far from worth it, at least for what I do.

i haven't see any problems from /stop /cast x, alone
if you put pauses i could see how its a problem, but by just using /stop /cast x, you cut work in half and if for some reason you need to stop songs you can alt-1, or half macro with just /stop

some problem with /stop /cast that i don't see?

Line 1: /cast 1 (song of sustenance)
Line 2: /afk On the playstation
Line 3: /rs BRB
Line 4: /fol

The reason macros aren't worth it is due to the fact that you cannot stop an EQ macro midfunction. So if I miss a note as the song starts, I have to wait the full three seconds before I can start again. If I try to start the song again sooner, the hotkey will still be running and perform a /stopsong before I'm finished casting, making it a useless venture. And I'm throwing up enough songs that need to be up that I can't afford that.

And Fyrsong... ass!

Hmm, thought I posted here already. Being an oldschool bard, I am too accustomed to 112233 type twisting to change. The only macro key I have ever had on my bard was "Inc", "Assist" and "Stopsong"

I agree with Eskimos assessment, macros are bad, mmmkay?

Oh, and my macro for what Eskimo does:

/target groupcleric
/foll
/afk Baby crying
/rs BRB, baby is crying and needs my attention, autofollowing %t

I come back in a few hours

Macros have never been a thing for most bards, especially anr "Raiding" bards. You can not account for zone lag with a raid force and as such your macros would not always fire properly. I think Eskimo's baby is Fyrsong's.

/Supah Dupah WEdgies Fyrsong and Eskimo for not being as old school as him!

When clearing the trash, I use hotkeys, but when it comes to the real fights, I agree that the macros give you much less control over your songs. However, with groups like this, no need for either, just have everyone pick a song!

Draganto Steppenwolf here, 44 bard. Finally found my way to the message boards. Was using hotkeys, but I believe it's better for all involved to just put the gems there, or at least have only a hotkey with /stop song and /cast 1, etc.

Why can't there be a new quest like: Test of Rhythm and if you 112233112233 correctly, it will provide you with a Bard only charm that you can setup 4 or more scripts to auto-play to prevent carpal. For cripes sakes... at 65 cyber should be more important.

Try /melody 1 2 5 etc. I've recently returned to EQ after wondering the deserts of modern day MMO gaming and started a new bard (I dunno why I didn't keep the one I had! ) so I'm not sure if /melody is more advanced version of /cast of they do the same thing.
