me and Quis got tickets to go see System with Clutch and Mindless Self Indulgence for this thursday (i really wanna see MSI)...i've seen System about 5 times now. Big arenas suck. They're playing at a place called the Aragon Ballroom (Brawlroom) out here in chi-town, and i'm looking forward to it.

System ro><0red me.

Clutch was pretty cool too... had heard rumors that MSI was going to be at the show, as well, but alas they were not.

Ah well, it was still cool. I just wish I could've seen Dillinger Escape Plan too. Damn them for playing on the same night.

Next time around.

Last night I went to a NOFX concert. Took like 5-10 minutes between songs, but they were funny.

Guy in crowd, "Your out of tune!"
El jefe, "Hey man when I go to Mcdonalds I don't tell you how to make my burger."

Old one but just cracked me up.

Tonight Less than Jake. mmmmmMkay

I'm barely 21 and I'm pretty much out of the loop as to what's in as far as music goes. I trained in voice and aspired to be an opera singer, so what I find exciting would probably bore the bonkers out of most of you.

Sarah Brightman
Josh Groban- who owns my soul
Renee Fleming
Kathleen Battle
Andrea Bocelli

I love anything with traditional flair, but new age is a no-no with me. Loreena McKennit= good. Enya= zzZZz. Josh Groban= /swoon.

As far as mainstream music goes, Nina Gordan has my pick. It all depends on who I have a crush on at the current moment, and Nina edged out Dido. But Josh pwned Nina recently.

Holy f uck. I just tripped over this great band called Manic Hispanic, and if you're a fan of old school punk like the Clash or Sham 69 or the Stains or anything like that, check them out. They do covers of old punk songs but translate the lyrics to fit barrio culture. Examples:

"Brown Girl" (from X's "White Girl")
"Bario Breakout" (from Sham 69's "Borstal Breakout")
"Mommy's Little Cholo" (from Social D's "Mommy's Little Monster")
"Mexican Tar" (from the Ramones/Runaways "Chinese Rock")
"Jet Muchacho" (from the Damned's "Jet Boy/Jet Girl")

They do some credible originals, too. This isn't like "Weird Al" crap, either...these guys smoke. VAMOS! Go listen.

I listen to pop culture @#%$ prolly has something to do with going to clubs alot...

I have a very broad musical taste tho...I picked it up from working in a recording studio I guess, now I listen to 'good' music rather than specific genres. Jewel's new CD has been finding it's way into my CD player a lot recently, lots of variety and stlye on the album.
