It's ok, not ground breaking really. The game follows the typical Cryptic formula for advancement, go to point A kill, talk to, or collect so many items and get points to use in an AA style skill allocation.

You can't play as a Klingon until you reach level 5 or 6 and complete some special quest as a federation player. At that point you can start as a level 5 or 6 Klingon character.

Space combat is interesting in how you have to manage energy and shields and firing arcs of the weapons but it is repetitive.

They're pushing the release of certain space sectors back for a future expansion...reminds me of the whole warhammer debacle in that aspect.

There seems to be very little difference in the career path you take (tactical, science, engineering) beyond what special "kits" you get to use.

With what I have seen of the game so far, it does not promote much in the way of replayability. It doesn't seem to be the type of game that would hold someone's attention for very long, like CoH and CoV, at least that is my impression.

LOL thats exactly the feel I get from the game Dav. It starts you in a kirk'ish type situation (from the abrahms movie), all senior officers are dead and only you can get the ship through the Borg attack safely. Once you prove yourself, youre given a Miranda style ship (Khan) to command and the abitrary rank of Captain, even though your official rank is an ensign.

They could have been a little more creative with the beginning. A run through the Academy with a test using the Kobyashi simulator or something.

Whatever, I like Star Trek and yet found this game to be so repetitive and boring it's not worth the 49.99 to experience the live game. There is no depth to the game, literally go here kill or collect this number of things, talk to this guy, go where he sends you and repeat.

AI is weak, space combat requires very little thinking or strategy and the Klingon story line is as bad. Once you unlock the Klingon faction you can play as Orions, Gorns, and a host of other races, but you still start off in a Klingon Bird of Prey. I can understand the Federation factions starting in a Federation ship, but the Gorn's in a Klingon Bird of Prey is a weak game setup.

My 2cp, wait till it hits the cheap shelf or offers a free trial.

From what I've read...if you are looking for a space mmorpg, wait for World of Starcraft.

Well, the Army came out with one a few years ago... I heard this administration is coming out with OO.. Obama Online. You have to gather money quickly, because you will be taxed. Your guild leaders will also be charged if they don't pay for your repairs and heal/mana pots.
