Another issue is why Bush would even want to put this man into such a position? Anyone remember what happened in Nicaragua? The Reagan/Bush administration supported a floundering dictatorship (the Somoza regime) against the Socialist Sandinistas. Needless to say, the Somozas were brutal and there is just no way that Negroponte (or others in the current Bush administration) didn't know what the Contras stood for and who they had supported in the past. This move by Bush, coupled with the weakening of de-Baathification, appears to be pointing to a move towards installing a regime in Iraq that will be nothing more than a military dictatorship reminiscient of the Somoza regime, or perhaps one that resembles the "softer" dictatorship we now see in Pakistan.

Holy shit! It's Lurikeen!
![]() I knew you'd be back. This place kind of grows on you... like a foot-fungus, or benign tumor that's just really unsightly.

Negroponte's nomination appeared on track for easy confirmation. No senator voiced opposition, and several said they expected unanimous approval in the committee vote set for Thursday and overwhelming confirmation by the full Senate.
Maybe he is a poor choice I don't really know, but if he is, wouldnt Democratic Senators be blocking this nomination? |

(I may have to trademark that last statement.)
![]() I mean, take a look at Dodd's statement again, "Those differences stem largely from a lack of candor about what the U.S. was and wasn't doing in Central America in the conflict at that time". Then why support Negroponte if he wasn't truthfull about what was going on in Honduras during the 80s? I'll tell you why, because Dodd and most of the Democrats have been beaten by the majority and most of them are acting as if they have "battered wife syndrome"!

Its called playing both sides of the fence. They vote yes, but get their objections on record in the media. If it blows up in 5 years, they come back and say "I was against him... look it up".
All in a days work for your average career politician.

Well you left with an elitist attitude acting like this forum is just flames and useless because nobody posted how you wanted them to. You flamed people just as much if not more than anyone else. Seemed you couldnt take the pace that you yourself set...
Now you are back. Get your ass served to you at the other place? |

No reason to harp on why Lurikeen returned, I am just glad he did. I doubt you will find us in agreement on much on these boards, but he does contribute.
Its also noticeable that he hasnt risen to the bait yet and started dropping personal insults without provocation. Good job dude.

I will take your response as being that you aren't able to actually address the topic of this thread, Kanibaal.
If it makes you feel better, I will be sure to post another 4,900 or so posts just for you.

I dont want to start a whole thread to feed your hunger for attention. JK Luri, but you disrespected the people who post here and then appear back like nothing ever happened. So like I said, dont shit where you eat. |

This so-called "pace" I set, but "couldn't keep up with" actually is the furthest from the truth. Not only can I keep the pace, but I certainly can add more fuel to the fire, but why? Chiteng was correct in that I became very frustrated with the outright stupid flames. I mean come on! Anyone can flame, but actually responding to postings with some sembelance of intelligence requires much more thought than a bland "You're a fucktard!" I am guilty. I admit it and don't even shrink back from the fact that I am one of the chief flamers on the board. However, I do think I was mistaken in my tact and have worked to reverse my past behavior. Disrespected the people who post here with my "farewell" post? No, not at all. Did I point out what stench I found in front of me? Yes, I did. Was I tired of it? You bet. Even one who participates in the "hack and wack" of flaming can get tired of the whole thing. You want to criticize me for that? Oh, no, your motive is to rub my face in my "farewell" posting. You want to crow about my return as some sort of failure on my part. Or, is it that you think I owe the flamers in this forum an apology for participating in the Vomitorium? You really should think a little harder about your position. Your propensity to seek negative attention is shinning through.
