Default good news for monks???

from casters realm

A useful tidbit of information was posted over at Monkly Business today. In order to alleviate the issue of needing to /q to really clear aggro in some situations, we've added a new mechanic to feign death. If you stay feigned for about two minutes, all NPCs will forget about you. There is no message to indicate it yet, but one should be going in with the next Test patch. This should work for Shadow Knight's and Necromancers as well as Monks.

That's cool. Haven't monks been asking for this since the original FD nerf?

I fail to see how this will help monks get groups. In raiding situations it is a nice addition...but hardly the fix monks need.

Whiny pure melee fookers. Pure melees have gotten enough already and are getting MORE with the new openings and AA's in GoD. Monks don't really need a fix.

Yes, I have been ashamed to be a hybrid these last two months. Been meaning to trade mine in for a rogue.

Wake up people, you don't have to have a whine battle when any class gets an upgrade. In fact, upgrading a class that you might have in your groups HELPS YOU. People complaining about class balancing, sheesh!

The only thing I whine about is how much my Ranger class whines about the class. -_-

How often do you see Mages complaining about their class on these boards?

I am pretty happy with the state of affairs with Magicians.

Been to the mage compendium lately, Marti? :P

Granted, I Think a lot of thier whining is probably well earned (mages have some pretty serious issues, if you don't play one I doubt you'd understand ), but still.. like 99/100 of the last threads have all be one kind of a whine or another

Though every class whines, seems to be about the only point of class boards.

ya know, arguing about whether someone or the other deserves an upgrade is pointless. EVERY class has its list of things that they would like to see improved. Some of them are actually broken, some of them are balance issues, some of them are just for convenience (like this FD change..it won't really affect gameplay all that much for anyone), some are pie in the sky wishes. Some of these are valid issues, some are just whining for the sake of whining.

Ag is completely correct. This is more of an extra option than upgrade. It some cases, its still just easier (and faster) to just /q out anyway. How people are taking this as an "improvement" is beyond me. If anything, its people grasping for a reason to gripe about their own class.

Also, as many of you non-monk folks don't know. FD has been altered several times already, even including a time were our FDs were instant mem blur. Just another reminder for those stuck on the "improvement" line and wish to get upset by it.

I think Drunken Master is something that should keep Monks happy a while.

The Phantom line is back on the merchants on Test and Beta. No changes have been made to it since the last update.

We are in the process of adding +endurance to existing items. It will be about as prevalent as +mana is for hybrids.

The opening system as it was on Test will probably not return. The goal was to make combat more interesting and add some reactiveness, but the attention required and randomness of it didn't do much to help with the class balance aspect. We'd rather use skills like the Phantom and Incite line, disciplines, and innate abilities to define and refine the class' role.

One of the ideas brought up by some players that seemed solid was a way to make monks better at dealing melee damage from any angle. When a monk is fighting from the front, but not tanking, he wouldn't be riposted. When the NPC would have riposted, the monk will instead attack it. The result is that the monk would do about the same damage from the front as from the back and, as long as he wasn't tanking, wouldn't take any riposte damage. Any thoughts on this one?

Read this on a guildsite, no link supplies though, I'll try and dig it up

If melees are getting +endurance and lots of new skills to use endurance, what makes endurance any different than a mana pool? What makes a warrior, monk, or rogue any different than a hybrid with weaker spells, but higher skill caps, other bonuses like warrior innate mitigation(and a new 5%) and higher pure melee dps?

Their mana pool is called endurance.

Well, the difference is that endurence is a yellow bar, whereas mana is a blue bar!

Truthfully, there is very little to no difference between mana and endurance. Melee disciplines are currently spells. Instant-casting, but depleting mana during thier time in effect. Proven that the new melee disciplines are so due to their restrictions - cannot engage when stunned, sitting, or silenced - same as any other hybrid or caster.
