Default Got sniffed out yesterday.

I had the opportunity recently to be the "suspect" and get tracked by one of our local department bloodhound trackers. They have three dogs in all and I am very very impressed with how they did. I didn't realize how well they can track someone. I ran a course of approximately 2 miles zig zagin and such running through creeks eventually treeing myself to see if they could see me.

Damn dogs came right to me. I was truly amazed. Then the rest of the assholes tagged me out of the tree with paintball guns hehe.

Is there any way to get a bloodhound off your trail? Ive heard pepper, sulfur, etc.. but then I heard on the news the other night an officer say "no, none of that stuff works.. they will find you".

Runaway slaves in the 1800s used to use coffee grounds to throw off their scent from the bloodhounds chasing them.

Take a crap, pick it up and start flinging it. Dig your hands into the ground and mix what's left of the crap with dirt and fling that too. Then take off in the opposite direction of where you flung the crap. That will save you some time...at least it seems pretty obvious to me it would.

No, that's from "Fighting with Monkeys for Dummies", not "Fleeing from Bloodhounds for Dummies".

The dogs handlers say no to. But I am sure there is something out there that can throw off scent just not for sure what it was. Wouldn't have mattered Horm after running two + miles i was sweating like a whore in church.

Cripes, you're running from the cops - just an an exercise, right? Make it that much more realistic and carjack someone. Leave those puppies behind wondering where the heck you got to.

You made the mistake of stopping.

Why stop and hide in a tree when you could've gone another quarter mile before they got to you?

One sure way is to find a female dog in heat, drop it off near a cat and go in the opposite direction.

they have this golden retriever that they use to detect microscopic leaks in gas lines 6-10 feet underground.

the best equipment in the world isn't as sensitive as this dogs nose.

not talking about a signifagant leak. like its so small that to register it on a instrument they have to dig the hole to where the leak is and THEN put the best instruments in the world within a few inchs of it to find it in open air.

the dog can find it buried 6-10 feet down.

thats fairly impressive.
