Question Crashing computer

Here is the old beast I am playing with right now:

Celeron 566
320 MB
10GB and a 120GB (new)
GeForce 4 mx 440 with the 6.1.7.7 and the 5.6.7.3 (tried both just to see if it would make a difference.)

My computer is freezing after a few minutes of EQ. I have almost everything turned way down if not off. (clip plane, old models) It doesn't freeze unless I am in EQ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I should have mentioned I haven't logged in since January or February on this computer. I haven't changed anything on this computer hardware-wise except for the new HD and the video card.

Hit with a hammer until unrecognizable. Purchase a new computer. Problem solved.

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0x70), which lies in the 0x70 - 0x71 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

I found these 2 entries whenever the system crashed. I don't really understand what that is saying.

Without touching the system to see specs, settings, etc I'd say a bad board/ports. Basically

. Thats prolly my best advice and what I would do cause you should really upgrade it anyways if funds allow.

His computer is beyond upgrading. Replacement is the only option. Continue hitting.

I would have to wholeheartedly agree with Korast. New hardware isn't really meant to be compatible with the old.

I do thank you for the very helpful advice......but I managed to solve the problem myself.

If you are interested in the solution I needed to update my BIOS. Things are working fine now it seems.

I will be getting a new computer soon I hope but right now I am saving my extra cash for my second child. The baby is due in Feb. so I won't be upgrading until after that.

Thanks again.

Well, since I don't have children, in a sense I was serious. But props to him for having other priorities.

I meant upgradeing the whole damn thing. I just abuse computers till they dont work and my "upgrading" is throwing the old one out a 3rd story window and buying a new one. Sorry for the confusion
