Default Chaps My Hide!!

For those that don't know "red neck" talk, that means this kind of accusation really irks me!

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapc...aid/index.html

".................On Monday, Jan Egeland, under secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief for the U.N., criticized the United States and other countries in the wake of the tsunami catastrophe in South Asia, saying the amount of foreign aid they gave was "stingy."............"

So now the world thinks the US is "stingy" with foreign aid? First off, why should we be the one's to "fix" every natural disaster. Next, our trade imbalance is so out of whack, it isn't even funny. We buy billions more in foreign products than they buy from us.

Sometimes, I just wish the United States would say, "Oh, you had a natural disaster, that's too bad! We have our own issues here at home so we will not send any money or aid! Good luck to you!"

I know, many of you are saying that that would not be the "Christian" thing to do, and you are correct. We should always try to help those less fortunate, but give me a break, our money is not endless. We can't "fix" every bad thing in the world, so we have to "chose our battles" , so to speak.

Any other view points??

Sorry, the title of the other thread, like my title, is not real clear. Either way, the world can go find help elsewhere, the US is NOT the world's "Sugar Daddy", you damn "gold diggers"!

Why do we act like we are the world's police force? Until we stop acting like we own this planet, other countries will hold us up to it.
