Default FFXI will not be on any new servers..... Only existing Japanese ones

Topic says it all. They have a built in translator but you have to click the words. And I heard that its a bitch to install everything. Btw since its on existing Japanese servers, the worldpass prices may be higher in some servers. Also, there will be other Japanese players on the server who have higher levels and WAY better equipment than you would have for some time. You also have to make sure you have Japanese character thingys set up in your computer to view the Japanese words.

Btw the PS2 version isn't being released yet because sony held off plans for the hard drive because they wanted their new EQOA ps2 game that is coming out in November to get some profit.

Many people are considering buying a ps2 usb adapter and plugging in their ps2 controllers into their computers and using it for the game.

Looks grim so far but I'm sure everyone will adjust over time. You just have to wait a little for the chaos to settle, if it does.

Heard a lot of NA are on Ragnarok and Fenrir.

Really... I was told quite a long time ago that they were making global servers and keeping the Japanese servers that were already existant private. I guess they changed their minds. They were actually worried about the game being released globally because when it was just in Japan, well, it's a smaller country versus the world, so you can know each other more personally and what not. Now that it's released around the globe you're subjected to world wide greedy and jerkish players, like the ones we see in Everquest.

I personally didn't have much of an issue that we didn't get
our own servers. All the Japanese players I've met so far on
the server I was placed on (Ramuh) have been very nice. I
even had one such person help me complete the first Windust
mission.

Also, the translator isn't all that hard to work...
just hold Tab as you type something to convert it when done.
It looks like they did a good job with it, because translated
Japanese I was receiving was actually very well structured
English on my end in most cases (except when typos happened).

I can't wait to try that translator then! Wasn't the EQ Devs announcing like long long ago that they were making an innate translator for Everquest? Or maybe I got the wrong idea from that. (see the EQ Patcher options)
