Default EQers playing LotRO?

Anyone also playing LotRO? What server(s)?

I am on Silverlode, with an alt here or there on other servers.

Default LOTRO emarr peeps

Heya.

There's a handful of old emarr's playing on Windfola . . . namely me and Calrain. I think I read that Martigan was playing there. Tipa used to be playing there but got bored of the game.

And that's all I know of.

Anyone that wants the 10-day free trial, just PM me. If you sign up, I get a free month. hehe.

If Sting runs out of keys, PM me and I'll send a key your way, then flip the free month to him as I've got a founder's account and don't pay a monthly.

I found the beta pretty decent but because I'm waiting with my comp upgrades I'll not be playing it. It's also not very refreshing as it, just like WoW, mostly repeats what already has been done by other MMOGs.

I do like the fact that they offer (or offered) lifetime subscriptions. Other MMOGs can learn from that. Imagine what you paid Verant and SOE if you're still subscribed to EQ from day 1.

Is it getting to the point where the whole MMOG-RPG thing has come to a bit of a standstill? Is there really all that much that can be made different? The FPS is in a similar situation, yeah, you can tweak the graphics, improve the physics, change the storyline, but can you really change the fundamentals of the games at this point? I think the last real 'different' game that was put out there might've been Guild Wars, the setup was different, the gameplay was different and the financial model was different.

LotR had a lot of expectations going in, and it does a decent job of following the storyline, while still adding some twists to it. If you go in expecting marked differences in gameplay from WoW or EQ2 you're going to be disappointed. The only real differential that I've noticed is the pvp end of things, I didn't do any pvp in WoW when I tried it out, and the pvp in LotR wasn't supposed to be a major portion of the game, but it seems as though it's becoming such.

I don't know if there is a solution to the dolldrums that seem to be the whole MMO scene out there, but for now, for me at least, LotR seems to be filling the community gap that I've had since everyone left EQ for WoW in the last two years, I feel like I'm part of something again, and it's fun. That's all I can ask from a game.

In my opinion there's still plenty of ways how MMOGs can be refreshing.

For example; Tabula Rasa is the first game which tries to be a bit more original and use line of sight aggro (perhaps a small radius for sound detection but I did not test this). It's changes like these which can make a game refreshing.

Especially loot, mob spawn and combat wise the games can be made a whole lot more exciting. I believe Age of Canon is the only fantasy MMOG which tries to go with a first person combat system which should be refreshing change from the auto attack yawn fest.

Haven't tried TR myself, but are the formats that drastically different? If so, I might have to give it a try. Haven't checked out AoC much, but I've never been a big FPS type.
