Think you kick ass at SMB 3? Can you beat it in under 11 mins like this guy did?

Easy. Get first two warp whistles in the first world and beat it to go to second world. Use warp whistle to warp to 7. Use warp whistle to get to 8th. Beat 8th and game. I've done it in under 11 mins before back when it came out on the NES.

Link was busted so I don't know how he did it.

Quichon, how could you beat it in under 11 minutes with that route? This video shows him barely finishing at 11 minutes, and he didn't even finish World 1 (skipped through immediately after getting the first warp whistle). If you were able to see it, you'd see that he took the most direct route through each level, except for the autoscroll levels that he bounced back and forth around in, waiting for the pipe at the end to appear. There are some who've said the character was moving faster than it should have, which, if true, would put the minimum time at an even larger value.

You can't get from lvl 1 to lvl 8 by using warp whistles. at lvl 1 you can warp to 2-4, at lvl 2-6 you can warp to 5-7, only at lvl 7 can you warp to lvl 8. Therefore he would have had to have beaten lvl 7 in it's entirety to get to lvl 8 if he warped from the first level because the third warp whistle is in lvl 2. Personally, it's far faster just to beat lvl 1 and then warp to 7 then to 8 than to warp from first level to 4th to 7th.

That valentine sure was funny. It said "I Choo Choo Choose You" and it had a picture of a train on it.

Here is another link from ebaumsworld.

http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=moSMB3.wmv

Haven't watched the video yet though. Its taking about 13 mins or forever to download. Pretty big file.

I know for a fact that I cannot have such l33t skills evar. Heck, I can't even beat the first mario bros. and the third. I get killed at the last levels always.

Dunno bout 11 mins, but I know I used to be able to do it in an easy 20-25. Never actually timed myself, may of been shorter.

You know, it might be the same tune on the whistle as in the original Legend of Zelda...

Link to the DL is busted for some reason.

I might be able to do that in under an hour if I practiced. Was really good at one point. And a ROM is just not the same as the cartridge!

Well, it is the same riff that you hear on the intro to Zelda: Occarana of Time. It is not an actual playable song on that game though. I do believe it is the same one as was featured on the whistle of the original Zelda (But not Zelda: a Link to the past) as well. This is not surprizing considering the same people made both games.

Lurrker... We know you may have the intellect of Ralph, but his quotes have no business in a Nintendo discussion. Perhaps it would have been slightly funny in a Simpson discussion, but you did not even manage that. If you can't handle that (or if your worm jumped into your mouth) then just sit in a corner.

That'd work if they continued to increase their games in that fashion, Kerryn, but they seem to be moving on to stupid game ideas and odd game titles rather than sticking with the same Mario mechanics.

Now, Final Fantasy...! There's something that we'll see hit the 20 mark in the next 10-15 years!

*loads up his old .wav file... Seeegaaaaa...ssssucks!*

I actually used to imagine as a child back when Mario 3 was new that Nintendo was going to continue doing the Super Mario Bros ## title stuff, and then eventually there'd be so many and different power ups that you'd see "Old Man Mario" where Mario would go around in a coffin. I guess that struck my mind from all the Tanooki and big boot mario stuff in Mario 3.

I saw on a games show about 6 months ago that Mario has appeared in no less then 82 games.

It's time to retire him along with a certain blue hedgehog.

Seems pathetic to me now. Cant they think of anything original?

As for the final fantasy thing X2 is the only game with characters we've seen before, but even I'm getting tired of seeing Cid, Biggs, Wedge ( blatant ripoff ) and some of the same old same old names.

Biggs and Wedge were not in FFII. Cid was, and there was a ninja named Edge.

There was no Cid in the first Final Fantasy ever, if I remember (there might have been one that slipped by me)

The first Cid appeared in FF2 for the Nintendo 8-bit. I don't know what happens in FF3, because there's no translated version of that one yet. Then comes 4, for the Super Nintendo, which is 2 for us, and from there he's been in all the Final Fantasy games. In Final Fantasy 6(3) came the Biggs and Wedge thing up to 9... or 10... someone will have to correct me, because I didn't play the ones after 7 as much as I did 4, 6, and 7. I never got to play passed the first CD of 8 because it was so boring and paper thin.
