Default Miss Digital World

Miss Digital World beauty contest.

"Miss Digital World" is the first beauty contest reserved for the likes of video game heroine Lara Croft, computer-cloned actresses from the "Matrix" films and new beauties tweaked to perfection with 3D graphics."

Even if you hate beauty contests, this one is really cool!

That's it, I officially hate the human race. I totally give up on us.

They're just practicing for the inevitable direct-to-nervous-system virtual reality blow up dolls...so leave 'em alone they are doing a great service for humanity.

Actually I can see a very pertinent sociological point to this. What better way to see what the human race views as "ideal"?

Then again, it'll just make us more jaded.

I doubt this will accomplish anything close to that. The 'ideal' for a collective != The 'ideal' for an individual. That whole artistic license thing will get in the way. Just from the couple examples I have seen the girls they are creating are cool but kind of odd and exotic looking.
Then there is a whole different can of worms to open and that is what the media's effect on the collective view of the 'ideal.'
It would be interesting to see a composite single female generated from the work of ALL of the artists involved in this.
(Oh I went to art school and took a lot of anatomy painting studies btw so I AM fairly interested in this kind of thing, so it's hard for me to see it as the representation of human disgrace that Barry does) :P

Well Araya, think about it.

Most of the gaming community has long been exposed to the very otherwordly appearances so evident in, say, Final Fantasy. Anime is yet another fascination of many gamers (which I totally lack), so consider that as well. Perhaps it won't be the ideal for today's society per se, but more of one for a certain part of society (which is fairly large!).

If they look nothing like Miss America, don't be surprised. Remember, many games with the best 3d models come from international developers (Japan in particular). It'll be a cross between our ideals, and how much we approve of another country's ideals.

I might be placing too much emphasis on it, but then again, it is Miss Digital World. /shrug.

Back to my beer.

Eh, it was a bad morning, Araya.

I run a videogame store, though, so I'm assaulted by guys going nuts over digital women all day long. It just gets really old after a while.

/agree Barry, the local one has all these anime "wallscrolls" plastered on the walls. Sometimes, there are obsessions I really can't understand...
