I wish I could give you some current advice, but I haven't been keeping up on hardware specs since restarting school. The only PC gaming I've done lately has been flash-based non-committal stuff. I'm not even sure what OS would be considered best at this point. While I know Vista still causes problems for a lot of people, the fact that XP's support has been dwindling makes it almost impossible to recommend it anymore. I hear the newer Windows betas have been good, but that's not really a conclusive option.
