Aackie

Coincidentally, durring Halpo's big Auction I got a tell from someone named Azmodane claiming to be a GM. The asked if I knew anything about Show EQ or Linux. I said I had heard of them but had never used them. They asked a number of questions and claimed my account had been flagged but that it might have been their problem and an error. That perhaps no "warning" or banning of account was needed. They then asked for my login and password claiming they needed to check history and that I did not even have to log off for them to do it. I did not reply and did a who all and the person was anon and certainly not identified as a GM or Guide. They repeated the request for password and log in stressing I did not have to log off, a which point I replied that until they had a GM next to their name they could kiss my ass.
With a least a minor amount of humor they replied *kisses ass*.
Of course I filed a /report and a petition on it.
Of course I have heard no more about it from the GMs.
Be advised and beware.

Btw, the GMs have mentioned multiple times to never give out your login/pass to anyone. And, I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't even give my login/pass to a GM. Maybe I'm just paranoid, hehe.

I can't think of a single reason why a GM would even need to ask for login and password. They shouldn't even need to ask for simply login, since they already have access to that information.
It's sad when we really have to watch our backs when it comes to dealing with other people. Things like that take a lot of the fun out of the game.

FIRST:
--------------
There are two states a GM can be in. Invis and obvious.
/w all Azmodane
Apprentice Guide [20 Wizard] Azmodane
or if /anon
/w all Azmodane
(nothing).. they will not show up.
if you get: [Anonymous]Azmodane.. it's a user.
Crappy scam, and really stupid. GMs can track that. *sigh* well that person HAD an account.
SECOND
----------------------
A GM does a /w all Aackie and would see this:
[59 Knight] Aackie (guildtag) - burningwood [elite_player]
Where elite_player being your login name. So he'd not need to ask you for that. That's why if you get stuck and /petition and get on another character, the GM "finds" you, it's because your petition is by login name, and that's how we do a /w all "elite_player" to find you.
blah..
shitty scam.

Have had this happen to me as well. I did a /who scammer got anon so I sent a direct tell to a GM telling him what was goin on. GM asked me to make a report an to keep on talking to this person. I did and GM sent me tell not 1 min later saying thank you and that scammer was in the process of being banned.
scammer wasnt the name I forgot the actual name.
